Micro TESE (Testicular Sperm Extraction)

Micro TESE (Testicular Sperm Extraction) is a highly specialized surgical procedure used to retrieve sperm directly from testicular tissue in cases where there is no sperm in the ejaculate (azoospermia). This advanced technique is particularly useful for men with non-obstructive azoospermia, where the testicles produce too few sperm to reach the ejaculate.

There may be various reasons for the absence of sperm cells in the semen:

  • Obstruction in the sperm ducts.
  • Congenital absence of sperm ducts.
  • Hormonal reasons.
  • Genetic reasons; The genes that provide sperm production in men are on the Y chromosome. Problems in these genes affect sperm production.
  • Radiation; Radiation, especially due to cancer treatment, can sometimes completely eliminate sperm production and this can be permanent.
  • Medications; Some medications, especially used in cancer treatment, can permanently stop sperm production.
  • Infection (After Mumps)

At Phoenix IVF Center, our skilled surgeons perform Micro TESE under a microscope to delicately extract sperm from small clusters in the testicular tissue. The procedure is minimally invasive and is performed under general anesthesia to ensure the patient’s comfort. The extracted sperm can then be used with IVF to achieve pregnancy. Micro TESE offers hope to men who were previously told they had no viable sperm and gives them the opportunity to father their own biological children. At Phoenix IVF Center, we offer personalized treatment plans to meet the needs of each patient with advanced surgical techniques. Our success with Micro TESE is a testament to our commitment to helping men overcome infertility and realize their dreams of becoming parents.
